The Glungezer is calling – are you ready?

The mountain season has begun!
Once again, the Glungezer gondolas soar into the skies, carrying mountain lovers into the crisp, invigorating air – right into the heart of one of Tyrol’s most stunning natural landscapes.

Whether it’s a family outing, a leisurely hike, or a sporty challenge – Glungezer offers a blend of discovery, relaxation, and adventure, just minutes from Hall in Tirol.

From Halsmarter mid-station (1,560 m), the trails unfold:

Leisure Hike to Tulfeinalm (2,035 m):

A well-maintained path takes you through open alpine meadows and light pine forests in about 1.5 hours from the mid-station. At the top, the Tulfeinalm awaits with hearty local snacks and a stunning panorama.

Zirbenweg Trail (starting from Tulfeinalm):

One of Tyrol’s most famous high-altitude trails!
This panoramic path leads to the Patscherkofel mountain station in about 2.5 to 3 hours – surrounded by the scent of ancient stone pines (some of the oldest in Europe) and breathtaking views across the Inn Valley. Ideal for families and day hikers. (Return by bus to Tulfes possible.)

Summit Tour to Glungezer Peak (2,677 m):

For experienced hikers, the route from Tulfeinalm via Glungezerhütte to the summit is well worth the effort. Surefootedness and stamina are a must – but the reward is a 360° view across the Inn Valley, the Karwendel, the Tux Alps, and the main Alpine ridge.

Short Loops & Theme Trails:

Perfect for families or those seeking a gentle mountain day:
Easy walks start directly from the mid-station and the Halsmarter alpine inn, with plenty of scenic rest spots and pinewood benches inviting you to breathe, relax, and take it all in.

New & Adventurous: The Glungezer Legend Via Ferrata

If your mountain day needs a dose of adrenaline, don’t miss the Sagenklettersteig – the Legend Via Ferrata.
It begins just above the Tulfeinalm (a 30-minute approach), and is fully equipped with steel cables, foot pegs, and panoramic views. Rated B/C with a few C/D sections, it’s suitable for those with some via ferrata experience (and proper gear, of course!).

What makes it unique? Along the way, you’ll meet legendary Tyrolean figures – from the Tux Giant to the mythical Pine Man. A thrilling blend of nature, sport, and storytelling.

Kugelwald – Roll, Play & Wonder at 1,560 m

I had a marble run as a kid – and watching the marbles roll was pure magic.
At Glungezer, you’ll find just that – but in giant size!

Right next to the mid-station, the largest wooden marble forest in Europe stretches across 8,000 m².
Over 500 meters of hand-crafted wooden tracks wind through the trees, joined by playful stations, a treehouse, and a special toddler area.

Some elements are even interactive – you can build your own track pieces!
While the kids explore, build, and play, grown-ups can enjoy the scenery or unwind on pinewood loungers in the quiet zone.
And when hunger strikes, the Halsmarter alpine inn is just next door.

Good to Know – Practical Info for the Season

Season start: May 29

Gondola ride to mid-station: ~10 minutes

Operating hours: daily from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Last downhill ride at 5:00 PM – plan accordingly!

Arrival by public transport: Bus 540 stops directly at the Glungezerbahn – free with guest card (leaves right from our doorstep!)
